Aquafil's LBT Plants: New milestone in polycondensation

AQUAFIL Engineering GmbH (Berlin, Germany) is continuously creating new innovations to put their customers in the position to produce highest polymer quality at lowest conversion cost. The latest innovation of AQUAFIL Engineering and a new milestone in the polyester area is the "Low Building Technology" (LBT) plant. The LBT plant fits into a normal hall and only requires some platforms (marked yellow on left side of picture). Only a small part needs a normal building structure for DCS, MCC, control room and laboratory (right side of picture).

The building height of an AQUAFIL LBT bottle plant is 50% less compared to other modern PET bottle plants (conventional CP+SSP or Melt Phase CP). By that way the building and erection cost and time are reduced dramatically. The AQUAFIL LBT bottle plant can produce viscosities up to 0.85 IV without conventional SSP.

In general the LBT plant technology achieves the lowest electrical consumption worldwide compared to other mentioned plants. The first line of LBT plant is under erection in the USA.

AQUAFIL Engineering has long experiences in building and designing continuous and batch polycondensation plants for PET polymers for textile, film and bottle grades. The LBT design is available for continuous and batch plants of all capacities.

Powerless Powerlooms
The powerloom sector produces more than 70% of the fabrics produced in India. Historically, it has been observed that whenever the excise duty on man-made fibre yarn and fabrics has been raised, the production of these has come down drastically. Let us look at some interesting observations regarding the production comparison between....
Towards zero burnouts in motors in spinning mills
Since the electricity has become a scarce commodity in India and the cost of power has been increasing alarmingly, energy conservation assumes great importance. Motors consume almost 90% of the electricity in a spinning mill. Hence, if a motor is not maintained...
